Muscles don’t fail me now.

This was my mantra this morning as I tried to accomplish the basic things you do when you get up. You know…get out of bed, go to the bathroom, brush your teeth, walk to the kitchen. This mantra helped pilot my legs, sore from ski fitness class, through my morning routine.

I am attending a 6-week ski fitness class here in Jackson. So happens that one of my board women, AJ Cargill, is putting this class on. Ski fitness class is not for the light hearted. This class is meant to whip our legs and butts into some sort of ski shape. Personally, I can use all of the help possible since I recently traded my snowboard in for some skis. I’m not a very efficient skier yet so hopefully I can resort to some strength and fitness to help me along.

This class is all about balance, core strength, and doing 10 million forms of squats. I love it. Last night we broke into small groups and I actually had to jump rope. Hello…have not done that since I was a kid. I think of myself as athletic and balanced…well, I felt like a complete spaz. I was lucky to make it through a minute. It is not too late to get involved with a ski fitness program in your town. Ask your local gym. AJ Cargill has submitted an article, Thunder Thighs are Good for Skiing, on a ski fitness program that you can do at home. Check it out. Gotta go… it’s going to take a while to crawl over to the French press for another cup o’ joe…
