Sperry Top-Sider Women's Pelican Boot

Yes…it is getting into the mud time of year here in the Rockies. The snow is starting to melt…well, just a little bit this year. We are still enjoying great skiing. I ain’t afraid of no stinkin rain and mud…I got me some sassy new boots.

I am sure most of you have heard of Sperry Topsiders. The first thing that might come to mind is boating. Well yes, since 1935, Sperry Topsiders has been best known for boat shoes that have logged more miles of open ocean than any other. And have out-raced, out-cruised and out-fished any and all competitors, again and again. Well, now they have created a women’s line that takes in a bit of style as well as function.

The Sperry line consists of boat shoes, sandals, nautical casuals, performance (great for kayaking and such), and my favorite…the weather gear. When these little beauties, The Pelican Boot, showed up I immediately slipped into them, ran out to the muddy woodpile, and chopped some wood…obviously. Since that moment I pretty much throw them on to do most anything. Not only are they cute as can be, they are also great for sloshing through the mud outside our house. The non-marking rubber sole is amazing for traction. We were loading recyclables in the slippery bed of our bio-diesel pick-truck the other evening…I felt like spider woman jumping up, around, and off the bed. These boots are fun all around.

After a long day of skiing I get back to the car, tear off the bulky, achy ski boots and throw on the Top-siders. They really dress up a pair of Gortex ski pants. They come in 4 different patterns…all very cute. These are not insulated boots. Therefore, they would get cold when standing in deep snow. These are not the boots that will replace your Pac boots in the winter. But this Rocky Mountain girl will do her best to get year-round use out of them.
