Out for the count.

The human body is absolutely amazing. You can go from a full day of skiing where you are feeling great and on your game. Then two hours later you are shivering ferociously in your zero degree sleeping bag because you have a fever. Yes, I have spent the past two days going through bouts of shivers into bouts of massive sweats. Lovely!

Influenza, or flu, is a respiratory infection caused by a variety of flu viruses. The most familiar aspect of the flu is the way it can “knock you off your feet” as it sweeps through entire communities.

So as I sit here in misery I reflect on the massive amounts of Sport Tea, Emergen-c packets, 600 mg of Ibuprofen every eight hours, and extra strength Tylenol, I have consumed for the past 2 days….AND…I still feel horrible.

Symptoms:
  • Body aches: Feel like someone is punching my entire body.
  • Chills: The zero degree bag comes in handy until you start going through the sweats and then you feel like your going to burn up.
  • Dry cough: Really rounds out the entire experience when your chest feels like the Gobi desert.
  • Fever: You can fry an egg on my forehead.
  • Headache: I was hoping that the headache was from the lack of coffee for two days. Wishful thinking.
  • Sore throat: When you are hacking all night there is no way to avoid a sore throat.
  • Stuffy nose: Why not? A picture of beauty I am.

The point of this blog is to let all you healthy people know to keep taking your vitamins, eat well, do not go and dance your face off until 3:00 am on St. Patty’s (I am sure that helped weaken my defense), and please, make some turns for me!
