Testing… testing… are we live? Yes we are!

www.WomenSpecific.com has officially launched Phase One…Finally! A few glitches caused a bit of a delay. The World Wide Web is not perfect yet. These first few weeks will be a bit of trial and error, so please hang on and be bear with us. We want WomenSpecific.com to be the best it can be. Women…a bit particular about detail.

In Phase One you will enjoy many great articles, fun reviews, and recommendations relating to cycling, climbing, and various issues relating to women’s health and nutrition. Our directory of Camps/Clinics and Retreats is a great resource that will allow you to find these great adventures with ease. We ask you to log on to a project that hopes to redefine the women’s outdoor industry.

WomenSpecific.com is an online community for women seeking knowledge on outdoor adventure. It is a multi-sport venue that supplies information on products and activities. The web site is interactive and is oriented around women and all they accomplish in the outdoors. Our main goal is to provide a comprehensive resource for all information about women’s outdoor programs, events, happenings, gear, health, nutrition and more.

We will launch 17 outdoor sports over the next year. These sports range from climbing and cycling to kayaking and flyfishing. Be sure to check in regularly for we will be phasing in new elements and features along the way. This homepage blog is sure to be humorous as well as informative. To maintain quality we will continually update and add new articles, reviews and events.

We hope that you will use this site as a tool to guide you where you want to go. Personally, I would rather spend less time researching on the internet and more time on my bike. This is what inspired me to create womenspecific.com: to try to provide you with the information you need to find the amazing products and activities you want in only a few clicks. More time to play is the ultimate goal.

This will be a very interactive site. We are hoping for your participation through comments and forums. Not only are we providing information to the outdoor woman, but we are trying to create a resource that the outdoor “industry” can use to learn women’s preferences. Let’s teach them a thing or two about what we really want in our gear and activities. Sure, put a big pink flower on my bike frame, but only if it is quality and is going to function and fit.

I thank all the people who have helped me get to this launch day. Drum roll please…
Clay Preheim on web-design; Colleen Quigley on stick-chick design; Johnny Ziem and Sarah Holmberg on photographs; Holly “soon to be MOM” Doyle on editing; the Brecheen Family on unconditional support; Fran VanHouten on cash flow analysis; My parents for having faith that I would do something more with my life aside from being a ski bum; Wrigley and Watson on patience with my computer time versus their swimming and walking time; my board of women on not being able to do this without their enthusiasm, support and writings (click on “About” to learn more on these amazing women); my better half Scott on leaving me with his debit card while I try to get this project off the ground; and, last but not least, to all of you women out there on having the passion and energy to live and play in this great outdoor world.

Why don’t you all take a solo?

We are a proud sponsors of the HERA Foundation. We will donate a percent of sales to HERA.
