The Australian Sport Awards are an annual event which provide the opportunity to celebrate Australia’s achievements as a sporting nation.

The awards recognise Australians across all areas of the sports sector who have achieved outstanding success in their field during 2006, from athletes and coaches to administrators, officials and sports business. They also provide an avenue to acknowledge those who have made exceptional contributions to sport in Australia.

Australian canoeing

During 2006 Tanya devoted a large proportion of time to achieving not only outstanding results but to transferring her knowledge and skills to emerging junior athletes through mentoring athletes in the Australian Junior Freestyle Kayaking Team.

Tanya has also previously worked with the Australian Canoeing Freestyle Technical Committee to develop a Level 1 Freestyle Kayaking Coaching Program. Tanya provided invaluable advice and information on the required technical aspects and theory of the sport.

Tanya’s continued commitment to the development of Freestyle Kayaking in Australia has made her an invaluable ambassador for the sport.
