I Just Moved Down to Texas

I just moved down to Texas and I have a job with the army base down here at Fort Hood. I have learned that you can pick your own power company down here, or at least you have different choices depending on where you live. It might be two in one place or it could more in other places. There is a web page called Choose Texas power dot org which is supposed to help you figure this stuff out, but I do not really see the difference between one power company and the other. It does not seem as though the rates that they charge would be all that different. I am sure that if one of them cut the price they were charging, then all of the others would do something very similar in reaction. It is not as though any of them are not going to be paying attention to what the others are doing. They certainly are not going to let the other guy cut your power bill by a significant margin and not react to it.

In fact I am pretty sure that they are all going to make sure that they can sell power at a price where they all make money. It is not like they have much to gain by selling it at a discount, not when that would just cause the competing power companies to match the price that they charged. I guess in theory if you had a lot more money than the other guy you might be able to run him out of a market. In that case you could sell power at an unsustainably low price until it ran the other guy out of business. Obviously once you had done that you could charge whatever the people would pay.

They Help Mom Every Day

I never really considered my mom’s age because she has always been so active. When she started slowing down, it was time for me to face the reality of the situation. While she was only in her mid 70s, she was still not able to do a lot of things that she could just a couple of years ago. I simply did not have the time to go to her house every day, so I looked into senior home care in brooklyn ny for her. I know she was worried that she would need to give up her home because she was not able to take care of herself as well as she could before. I know how much she values her independence, so I was prepared to move mountains to make sure she did not have to leave her home simply because she is getting older. She can still do things such as prepare her meals, but she did need some help with some medical issues. Read the rest of this entry »
